Cambias Sr Is Satin Slayer [yawn]

"It would be so anti-climactic to end it this way, don't you think?" ...um, yeah. You wrote it [Megan McTavish and the rest of the AMC writing staff], not i.

i know it's difficult to consistently come up with attention sustaining plots and scripts. And fans can't and shouldn't expect storylines to always turn out the way they've speculated they will on the various and sundry message boards. But i think i can safely say that i am not the only AMC viewer/reviewer who is disappointed in the reveal of the Pine Valley Satin Slayer. Any number of suspects put forth by the fans imho was more plausible and more interesting than the thought to be 'late' Alexander Cambias Sr.

At least on Dallas' Bobby Ewing is in the shower and Pam was only having a bad dream plot, you could suspend your disbelief. i have no beef with the performance of the actor portraying Alexander, he is clearly skilled at his craft. But this MacGuffin has me mutterin' and cussin'.

Clearly the character is insane, but i couldn't help continuing to wonder aloud "why?" with regard to his motive for the slayings. i know, i know, he told his daughter-in-law Kendall, that it was to teach his son a lesson not to be so headstrong, but how could Zach know to be contrite when there was not even the most vague of clues that it was in fact his father who was the murderer.

This Cambias Sr. not having been mouldering in the grave bit [for me anyway, and again i can't help but feel i'm not alone in my ire] is not only insulting, it's well, the AMC writers said it first, "anti-climactic".

One Life To Live: Evangeline and Todd Kiss---Yes!

[thank you Autumnlove4Tangie and Tangeline Dreams]

Tuesday 2/20/07: The kiss...all i can say is
s m o k i n' h o t!
Uh, Blair who?. So Blair has decided to dump Todd---i say good riddance. Now Todd can truly get with Evangeline, and she can dump that whiny sanctimonious loser Cristian like a frickin' bad habit. Please OLTL powers that be, this is what the fans want for these characters. Please don't let it end with the elevator encounter. 3 cheers for Evangeline and Todd, Llanview's sexy new power couple.

I Love Lucy---All My Children's, Emma

i am smitten. Completely, unabashedly, irrevocably, with Lucy Merriam, All My Children's Emma.

Not only is she a cutie, she is a very good actress who is capable of crying on cue, she's funny, and does quite well in serious moments too, thank you.

Her real life parents obviously have good heads on their shoulders, and have raised
Lucy and her brother Joseph well. i'm not familiar with her brother's work, but the brat factor seems to be at zero for Lucy, and i'm guessing the same applies to her sib.

Apparently i'm not the only one who is enamoured of Miss Lucy---here's fan sweetmiranda4's YouTube tribute to her, featuring recording artist Jesse McCartney who portrayed young J.R. Chandler a few years back.

One of Lucy's interests is the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels. These are for you sweetheart XXXOOO

All My Children...Love, Loss, Revival: Valentine's, Funerals, and Babe is Alive

As is their m.o. for holidays, soap storylines incorporate themes suitable for the occasion. i must applaud All My Children for getting Valentine's Day absolutely right. Sweet without being so sugary that one would be in danger of getting a cavity just from watching. And for pagan me, the true meaning of the holiday---L O V E. Not just romantic love between adults; but platonic love, first love, bittersweet love, love of parent for child and child for parent, love for siblings, and love for those who have moved on to whatever plane goes beyond the mortal one we know.

Which segues us to the Loss portion of this post's heading. i must say bravo to AMC on the funeral for Dixie and Babe. Firstly the outdoor setting was a nice change of pace. Let's be honest, the ritual of the funeral is primarily not so much to honor the deceased, although that is clearly a factor. It's primary [and primal] function is a cathartic for the survivors. 'Kids'[an old acquaintance's pet name for AMC] again, got it right. i'd seen some posts on other's message boards questioning/judging the decollete, and in general costuming choices for the female castmembers. Speaking from personal observations at real life services, i would say 90% of prep time of the majority of the female mourners rivals that of the mortitian's work on the dear departed only in terms of needing fewer cosmetics, with perfume spritzing often vying for the olfactory senses over that of the fragrance factor of the tributory bouquets. So for me, the make-up and costumes were demure and low-key by comparison. i don't say that as a chop towards those whom i know, just callin' 'em as i've seen 'em folks.

Anyway, as i was saying, 'kids' got the funeral right. We were allowed to know what those who were being mourned meant to each of those in attendance. Men were not ashamed to cry. Michael E. Knight's [Tad Martin] scenes were especially touching.
Friends shared how each of the deceased had touched their hearts and lives. Some quietly meditated and wept---Chrishell Strause [Amanda Dillon] broke my heart. Krystal tried to stay strong but ultimately grief broke her down. Jeffrey Carlson's Zoe's acapella left not a dry eye.

Revival---as yours truly told y'all, Babe ain't dead after all.

i guess there's going to be a lot of fallout when Krystal, J.R. and the rest who weren't in on the ruse discover the happy albeit startling truth.

Cross Janet Off Satin Slayer Suspect List

So much for my theory that the Pine Valley Satin Slayer is Janet [from another planet]Green Dillon. i did not hit the bullseye after all. It was probable but ultimately not possible, as Janet had an air tight alibi when the most recent victim met their fate. Janet was at the mental hospital talking with her daughter Amanda, and Jamie Martin
when Babe Chandler was assaulted in the parking lot at Chandler Enterprizes.

The current twist in this plotline that has my index finger tapping my chin is, is Babe in fact croaked. Sure sure we saw her mom Krystal [great work by Bobbie Eakes]sobbing, embracing, and mourning her 'baby doll' , and giving her a final kiss. But that don't necessarily mean she's really gone. ABC/CapCities' current teaser for All My Children shows quick cuts of Babe and Dixie with the voiceover saying one of them is not dead. Well we know that Cady McClain has been fired from AMC, so unless they're planning on re-casting Dixie, and there doesn't seem to be any indication that that is the plan, then common sense would point to Dixie being dead and not Babe.

Also is it just me or did Doc Jeff Martin seem to be wanting to get
Josh "do you want to go out and get some air son?" and
J.R. "would you like to see Babe?" [both declined] alone to tell them confidentially that things were not what they seemed. i know it seems cruel, but i can't help but think that there is a plan to make the killer think they succeeded in killing Babe, when in fact they didn't. In order for such a plan to work not even her mother could be told. Maybe Babe is not dead, but comatose, but like a Sunny Von Bulow type coma, where she is not in a vegetative state, but is unresponsive otherwise. Extreme i know, but as the late great Jim Varney would say "it could work".

Look Away, Look Away, Look Away, Dixie (Land)

i was never a huge Dixie fan, but i did think that she and Tad would be 2gether4ever[multiple marriages to each other and others and various extra-curricular lovers not withstanding]. 'specially after they went through the trouble of wishing on the same star and all. But like so many other star-crossed lovers, it ultimately was not meant to be.

Anna Nicole Smith: 6 Degrees of Separation via All My Children

If "15 minutes of fame" is a phrase worthy of inclusion in a 20th century time capsule, "6 degrees of separation" gets my vote for the 21st. Who would have thought that there was a connection between the late Anna Nicole Smith,
and John James, All My Children's sexy doctor Jeff Martin.

This morning on Fox News Mr. James was reminiscing about how much fun he had working with Ms. Smith. He was clearly saddened by her death and the tragedies she suffered shortly before.

Mr. James is an executive producer and co-star of Ms. Smith's in her final film Illegal Aliens.

That Satin Doll

Time for me to play detective again. Hey if the soap scripters insist on having murder plots on the front burner storylines i can't resist. Those who've been following All My Children's Satin Slayer storyline know that Simone, Erin, and Dixie have been poisoned. Danielle was one of his victims, but luckily was rescued before the drug took fatal effect. Babe had been the killer's intended latest victim, but Dixie ate the tainted peanut butter banana pancakes that were meant for Babe.

Zoe/Zarf is Pine Valley Police Chief Derrick Frye's prime suspect in the mystery. i don't think Zoe did it. Too obvious. The character said in a recent ep that of course when a stranger comes to town and a serial killer is on the loose, the natural kneejerk inclination is to suspect the town's newest arrival. i agree with Zoe on that point, which is precisely why i don't think Zoe's the one.

my hubby and i were thinking of all the less obvious Pine Valleyites who might be the killer. we agreed a female is a good place to start since everyone in town is presuming the killer is male. hubby'd like the killer to be Bianca. his theory is that because everyone thinks Bianca is so beloved and sweet that it would be an interesting twist to have it be her. Yes, an interesting choice, but i don't think she's the one either.

i kind of dabbled with the idea that it might be the Chandler housekeeper Winifred's niece Sydney. Remember her from the earlier storyline when she was Colby Chandler's rival. But, i discarded her as the killer primarily because the killer supposedly has a beef with Zach Slater and/or the Cambious family, and she's too young to have had a relationship with Zach or his family.

i wondered if Greenlee may have [off-camera] returned to Pine Valley. But, no, i don't think it's her either. Backtracking a bit, if the killer is a man, i think it's Dell. His sister Dixie's murder was accidental, and he's been known to not be the most law abiding, so if it turns out to be a man he's my pick.

my suspect is Annie. i can't explain why, i just have a feeling. i like the character, and i hope i'm wrong but i think it's her.

2~8~07 Update on sookie's theory on Satin Slayer Suspect: How could i have made such a glaring error?! The Satin Slayer is not Annie, it's Janet ['from another planet'] Green Dillon.

Robin Mattson [janet'from another planet'green dillon]
Wonderful Robin Mattson, who portrayed Janet [in 1994] is currently working on As The World Turns, but her role there is short term, so it's possible that she could return to the Pine Valley set. [Janet fans that's your cue to start petitioning the powers that be to bring her back].

OMG! i cannot believe my timing...only hours after i posted the preceeding paragraph, All My Children's teaser for the ep for Friday February 9, 2007 has a clip of our beautiful bonkers Janet. But in my initial zeal to share the good news, i miscredited the actress who will currently portray her. Too much/not enough coffee for me?[shrug]. Janet's current and original portrayer [1985] is another fan favorite, the luminous Kate Collins. AMC fans will get their wish, Janet is returning.janet's current and original portrayer [1985] is another fan favorite, the luminous Kate Collins
Hooray!

[my hiccup not withstanding] this can only mean i'm about to hit a bullseye with my Satin Slayer Suspect theory [say that 3 times fast---i dare you].

[For the uninitiated] Character recap: Janet has been in a mental hospital for several months. When last we saw her [approximately 6 months ago] she was heavily medicated and J.R.Chandler was visiting her. Janet had been assaulting and kidnapping several citizens of Pine Valley. At that time Jonathan Lavery was the prime suspect but was eventually proven innocent. Janet had also murdered her husband Trevor Dillon, and kidnapped Babe and her son Adam Chandler III aka 'lil A. She was about to give Babe the coup de gras when the police and her near and dear came to the rescue. Janet may be mentally ill, but she also has a very high I.Q., is extremely clever, is a master of disguise, is physically strong, and a master escape artist. So, my revised theory is that Janet has escaped from the mental hospital, and it is she who is the Satin Slayer. Forgive me Annie.
