Justified Season 1 Episode 3 The Fixer And Season 1 Episode 4 Long In The Tooth

"Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens, you got iced cold water running through your veins" ~ Bad guy character to Bad Ass character U.S.Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens of FX' Justified

"I'm on the run fam, all eyes on me. Either walk or fly, I'm ready to die" ~ Lyrics Excerpt From Gangstagrass' Long Hard Times Coming [On The Run]

Justified Season 1 Episode 3 The Fixer And Season 1 Episode 4 Long In The Tooth

FX has another hit on their Tuesday night line-up. Justified, based on novels and short story by Elmore Leonard.

Timothy Olyphant plays Raylan Givens; a lanky, soft spoken, loaded side-arm carrying, cowboy hat wearing, i don't want to shoot you, but if you draw on me, i will, and if pressed to take aim, i'll be aiming to kill you kind of man, with a heavy dose of irresistible southern charm.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Raylan, worked the coal mines and then later went into law enforcement. Ray's daddy Arlo is a law breaker, as are some of Raylan's childhood friends. Most of his friends followed the path of the straight and narrow---with a few detours. Raylan reveres his hometown, in the way that any native son would, but couldn't wait to get away from. Once gone, he vowed never to return. Fate up-ended that vow. A fatal, albeit "justified" shooting of a gun-runner caused his superiors in Miami Florida to re-locate him to Harlan Kentucky. Deputy U.S.Marshall Givens has been in law enforcement for 17 yrs.

Even though Justified is not actually shot in Kentucky [it's location shots were done in Pittsburgh PA and the studio shots in Hollywood CA] you'd have to really be looking [a habit i confess i'm guilty of] to notice the actors are not in bluegrass country. i call it 'the mayberry/matlock factor'. Y'know how L.A. as beautiful as it is, is just not as lush and green as North Carolina, Georgia, or in Justified's case Kentucky. It's just geographically not possible for the rolling hills, and grass in Kentucky to have the same look and texture as southern California. But as i said, unless you're really looking, the production values of this show are so good, you'd never know the difference. The scripts, direction and acting are Derby Day thorough-bred good.

As of this posting, 7 of the first season's 11 episodes have aired, my 2 favorites being episode 3 The Fixer and episode 4 Long In The Tooth. Great guest stars in both. Respectively, David Eigenberg, Miranda's put upon hubby from Sex And The City, and Alan Ruck and Clarence Williams III. If you miss any of the eps aired on the FX network, their website and Hulu provide full eps for viewing 9 days after the original tv date for 36 days.

Justified airs Tuesdays at 10:00pm on FX. Please check your local listings.

Glee Season 1 Episode 15 The Power Of Madonna

Glee Season 1 Episode 15 The Power Of Madonna

quote:“This episode is our love letter to Madonna, an artist who has inspired me all my life.” unquote ~ GLEE executive producer and co-creator Ryan Murphy.

Glee's Will Schuester and Sue Sylvester may be arch enemies, but they also have a mutual passion. Madonna!

For me, every episode of Glee has been better than the one that preceded, and after only seeing previews of The Power Of Madonna ep, i have a feeling that no matter how many great episodes follow, this will be my favorite.

i love the scene when Mr.Schuester asks the kids what comes to mind when they think of Madonna, and Puck answers "HOF MILF". Schu's lesson plan aims to impress upon the students that while being a "HOF MILF" is not a bad thing, there is more than that to be appreciated about Madonna and females in general. Noting her cultural influence, Schuester assigns the Glee club to choose songs from Madonna's catalog.

Coincidentally, coach Sue Sylvester is incorporating Madonna's music with the Cheerios' cheerleader routines. The word fan does not do justice for her admiration. Sue worships Madonna. Mercedes, and Kurt learn of Sue's devotion for 'Madge' and give her a make-over in tribute to their heroine. Jane Lynch's cover of Madonna's Vogue video is absolutely terrific. Bravo to Glee on the production and adaptation of the song's lyrics to suit Sue's venom for Will.

The highest compliment for The Power Of Madonna episode comes from 'The Goddess' [my pet name for Madonna] herself: quote “I think Mr. Schuester is very cute, and I’m glad he’s doing such a good job empowering all the girls.” unquote

Glee airs at 8:59pm Tuesday April 20, 2010 on Fox. Please check your local listings

Glee Returns ~ Season 1 Episode 14: Hell-o

It's only been 4 months, but it seems like it took an eternity for Fox' Glee to return from hiatus from the 1st half of it's 1st season---what is it about Ryan Murphy's shows that networks like to break the seasons down into parts? i was gnashing my teeth and muttering aloud, oh man! don't tell me there's going to be the same 'exactly what season # is it?' debate that went on with the now concluded Nip/Tuck. Fortunately that is not an issue with Glee. The fans prayers have been answered. And speaking of prayer, Madonna's "Like A Prayer" and "Express Yourself" will be performed by the kids of fictional McKinley High in episode 15 of season 1, titled "The Power Of Madonna". Ryan Murphy has never made a secret of the fact that he is a fan of Madge's [it was rumored that she was coveted for Nip/Tuck, but that never came to pass]. Also songs from The Beatles' and LadyGaGa's catalog will be performed on Glee.

Getting back to episode 14, Hell-o. Schu's kids' got that 'we won sectionals' swagger goin' on, but their strutting is soon met once again, with slushies being hurled toward them.

If you thought Sue Sylvester couldn't get more outrageous, think again. Sue is more out of control than you may have feared. Wielding a pair of scissors, she comes up behind a pony-tailed male student whom she has mistaken 1 time more than she cares to as female, and without skipping a beat, proceeds to cut the offending follicles from his head. YIKES! Bravo to the writers, because Sue's has no censor tongue is as sharp as stainless steel razor wire. i LOVE Jane Lynch! It doesn't matter what heinous thing Sue says, i just cannot not like her.

Rachel is in a love triangle with a boy from a competing school's glee-club. But his interest in her may be for purposes of sabotage rather than romance. Now that Will has separated from his faked the pregnancy wife Terri [played by the always entertaining Jessalyn Gilsig] he and guidance counselor Emma have declared their feelings for each other and are free to openly date. i feel bad for gym teacher Ken, Emma's former fiancé---his only wrong is that he is not Will. But as the saying goes, the heart wants what the heart wants, and Emma's heart ultimately didn't want him *sigh*.

Confirmed Glee guest stars this season: Kristin Chenoweth [currently on Broadway in a revival of Promises Promises], Olivia Newton-John, SNL alum Molly Shannon, Wicked's Tony Award Winner Idina Menzel, HIMYM's Neil Patrick Harris, and Spring Awakening's Jonathan Groff.

Glee, season 1 episode 14 Hell-o, airs Tuesday April 13, 2010 at a special time 9:28pm Please check your local listings.
