In Anger Management, Sheen stars as "Charlie," a non-traditional therapist specializing in anger management. Selma Blair, Shawnee Smith, Daniela Bobadilla, Michael Arden, and Noureen DeWulf co-star. He has a successful private practice, holding sessions with his group of primary patients each week, as well as performing pro bono counseling for an inmate group at a state prison.

Prior to his career as a therapist, Charlie was a stalled minor league baseball prospect whose road to the majors was sidetracked by his own struggle with anger issues.

After a stint in anger management therapy, he made it to the majors and had one terrific season before his anger issues put him on the shelf for good. In the final game of his career, he tried to snap a bat over his leg, which resulted in a career-ending injury. That injury led him back to school and to his current profession.

Charlie thrives on the chaos in his life while still battling his own anger issues. His life is complicated by his relationships with his own therapist/best friend, an ex-wife whose positive outlook but poor choice in men frustrates Charlie, and their 13-year-old daughter who has obsessive-compulsive disorder.

HBO's True Blood Returns For 5th [And Speculated Final] Season On June 10, 2012

Should fans of HBO's True Blood be excited or wary about the press release announcing the show's June 10th return for a 12 episode 5th season. The announcement, much like character Sookie Stackhouse's otherworldly gifts, is a mixed blessing.

There's speculation that True Blood's 5th season may be it's last, because show runner Alan Ball says he will not be helming a 6th season. Often when a show's creator announces they have decided to call it a day, there is little if any chance of the show continuing when they take their leave. And that is usually for the best, as the creative vision from successors while not necessarily bad, tends to detour from what the established fanbase has come to know and expect. Will True Blood have a 6th season? And if it does, without Alan Ball, will it have the same bite?

Via HBO press release dated 4~4~2012

The 12-episode fifth season of TRUE BLOOD will kick off SUNDAY, JUNE 10 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT). Based on the popular Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, this Emmy®-nominated hit drama series was created by Alan Ball, creator of HBO’s Emmy®-winning series “Six Feet Under.” The show follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård).

Since Alan Ball is leaving True Blood after this season, could this be the last one?

Johnny Depp Will Star In Rob Marshall's The Thin Man But The Director Would Rather Not Call The Movie A Re-Make

Some say Rob Marshall's The Thin Man starring Johnny Depp is a re-make. In fact the press release announcing the production uses that expression. Even so, the director defines his movie as a "reimagination".

Dashiell Hammett's story of sleuthing spouses Nick & Nora Charles is being adapted for the screen again, this time by Billy Ray [Hunger Games].

But the film's director does not think of the project as a re-make: "Ray’s draft is not a remake of “The Thin Man,” Marshall says, "but a reimagination.”

i have no beef with Mr.Marshall's categorization of his movie but i'm not exactly thrilled with his choice of leading man. i get that he and Mr Depp have collaborated successfully in the past and i like Johnny Depp well enough, but my preference for the casting of Nick Charles would have been Nicolas Cage.

i think physically Cage is more suited to the role and can pull off the character's street-wise and equally comfortable mixing with high society persona more convincingly. But the decision to star Mr Depp is a done deal and i am not aware that any other actors, let alone Mr Cage were in the running for the part.

The role of Nora Charles has not been cast. So if i may continue to put in my 2 cents i think Parker Posey would make a nifty Nora. Maybe Mr Marshall and his producing partner John DeLuca will agree with me on that theory. Fingers crossed ;D

Press Release: ROB MARSHALL and JOHN DeLUCA officially sign-on to THE THIN MAN remake.

Their story also includes: a tempestuous love affair between Hatfield’s son and McCoy’s daughter, which had disastrous consequences; the execution of McCoy’s three young sons in retaliation for the Rasputin-like murder of Hatfield’s beloved brother; a New Year’s Massacre of the McCoy clan and burning of their home, which also sparked international headlines; a public clash between state governors; and ultimately the involvement of the United States Supreme Court.

"Justified is one of television's best series and this season has reinforced that excellence," said Grad. "Graham Yost and his writing team continue to deliver compelling material and richly drawn characters brought to life by the brilliance of Timothy Olyphant and our terrific ensemble cast. Their work is validated by universal acclaim, awards, and ratings that have grown every year. We look forward to many more seasons to come."

Developed for television by Graham Yost and starring Timothy Olyphant, Justified (TV-MA) is based on the popular Elmore Leonard character "Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens" from his short story Fire in the Hole and some of his other novels.

"There are many reasons all of us on Justified are grateful to get a chance to do another season," said Yost. "We get to do more work with amazing actors, writers, producers, directors, musicians, editors and a jaw-droppingly talented crew. We get to keep doing a show that appeals to a wide demographic: people in Harlan, retired US Marshals, criminals (we honestly did hear that), and, most happily, our guide, our muse, Elmore Leonard. Best of all, we get to keep doing a show on FX (and while that may sound like craven ass-kissing, when you look at their roster, you can't help but feel grateful to be on that list)."

"Graham's modern day take on the western and masterful storytelling have helped bring the genre to the forefront," said John Westphal, Senior Vice President, US. current programming, Sony Pictures Television. "The storytelling and performances brought to life by Tim Olyphant, Walton Goggins and the rest of the cast, continue to elevate the series season after season."

Through seven weeks, first-run episodes of season 3 of Justified are averaging 4.3 million viewers (+8% vs. season 2) and 2.1 million Adults 18-49 (+8% vs. season 2). The weekly multi-run average viewership for the season 3 is 7.0 million total viewers and 3.4 million Adults 18-49.

Justified airs its eighth episode tonight, titled "Watching the Detectives" (10 PM ET/PT). A shocking murder forces Raylan to confront his past mistakes. Boyd grapples with Harlan's corrupt sheriff.

The series co-stars Walton Goggins as Raylan's old nemesis/friend "Boyd Crowder," Nick Searcy as Givens longtime friend and boss "Chief Deputy Art Mullen," Jacob Pitts as "Deputy Marshal Tim Gutterson," Erica Tazel as "Deputy Marshal Rachel Brooks," Joelle Carter as "Ava Crowder," and Natalie Zea as Raylan's ex-wife "Winona Hawkins." After Margo Martindale won an Emmy Award for her guest-starring role in season two as the evil matriarch "Mags Bennett," this season brings Neal McDonough as Detroit businessman "Robert Quarles" and Mykelti Williamson as the mysterious "Limehouse" to face off against Raylan Givens.

Yost wrote the pilot and serves as Executive Producer/Writer on the series. Leonard is an Executive Producer on the series along with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Michael Dinner and Fred Golan, and Olyphant is a Producer. Justified is produced by FX Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

FX is the flagship general entertainment basic cable network from Fox. Launched in June of 1994, FX is carried in more than 98 million homes. Matt Damon Pens and Stars and Gus Van Sant Directs anti-fracking movie: Promised Land

PRESS RELEASE

Matt Damon pens and stars in anti-fracking movie

Matt Damon has co-written and will star in an anti-fracking, Hollywood blockbuster. The film, “Promised Land,” will be directed by Gus Van Sant and co-star John Krasinski, who plays Jim in NBC's “The Office.”

Damon’s anti- fracking plot was revealed in an email yesterday to supporters of “FrackNation,” a documentary that "aims to tell the truth" about fracking – a process for retrieving natural gas from deep rock.

Environmentalists have claimed fracking pollutes water. However, the Environmental Protection Agency recently announced that its investigations of a number of high profile incidents have revealed no pollution, and the allegations of contamination lack a scientific basis.

FrackNation was an immediate success on Kickstarter.com, raising more than $190,000 and smashing through its fundraising goal of $150,000 early in the campaign.

In their letter to supporters the filmmakers said the latest Hollywood attack on fracking underscores the need for balanced documentaries such as FrackNation.

Krasinski and Damon, co-writers of “Promised Land,” focused on fracking, a practice that has become one of the biggest causes to be adopted by the radical environmental movement.

“Promised Land” producers have been very tight-lipped about the plot. They have said it will feature Damon "playing a sales executive who arrives in a small town only to have his whole life called into question.” Additionally, a casting call was issued for extras to play "farmers, children...and attendees at a town hall meeting.” Much of the fracking is done on farmland and many of the allegations of pollution have taken place at raucous town hall meetings.

Sources close to the production have told McAleer and McElhinney that it is “pollution from fracking,” causes Damon to question his purpose in life.

FrackNation’s filmmakers say they are finding many scare stories about fracking but little scientific evidence to support the claims by environmentalists that fracking is contaminating water or the environment.

Adding to the controversy, “Promised Land” will be filmed in Pennsylvania - where many of the fracking controversies that later proved to be unfounded are centered. Dimock, PA was featured in many reports alleging fracking contaminated water. However, the EPA recently announced that the water in the township is not polluted.

"We understand that Hollywood movies have to be entertaining not truthful,” said McAleer. "We wish Matt Damon well in his project but we do hope that the movie reflects how the majority of people in fracking areas support the process and know their water is not polluted," he added.

McAleer added that movies such as “Promised Land” underscored the need for documentaries such as FrackNation "to allow a debate on the issue.”

FrackNation is continuing to fundraise through Kickstarter. The campaign ends at 6 A.M. Pacific on Friday, April 6th.

NURSE JACKIE stars Edie Falco in her Emmy Award-winning role as Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed and brilliant – but very flawed – emergency room nurse. When season four returns, Jackie comes to realize that both karma and sobriety can be a bitch. In addition to finally confronting her addiction, Jackie must also attempt to save her troubled marriage and keep her family from falling apart.

At work, Jackie’s street smarts and sardonic wit are tested even further by an ambitious new hospital administrator (special guest star Bobby Cannavale), determined to run a tight ship and keep her in line. The series also stars Eve Best, Merritt Wever, Paul Schulze, Dominic Fumusa, Anna Deavere Smith and Peter Facinelli. Stephen Wallem, Arjun Gupta and Lenny Jacobson guest star. Season four’s other guest stars include acclaimed actors Rosie Perez, Aida Turturro and Joel Grey, New York Knicks' forward Carmelo Anthony and Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong.

THE BIG C focuses on Cathy Jamison (Laura Linney, in her Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated role), a reserved, suburban wife/mother/teacher whose terminal cancer diagnosis forces her to shake up her life and find the light side of a dark situation. This season, Cathy sets about finding more joy in her life. The series also stars Oliver Platt, John Benjamin Hickey, Gabriel Basso and Gabourey Sidibe. The stellar list of guest cast for the third season includes special guest star Susan Sarandon, and special guest appearances by Alan Alda and Allison Janney. Other guest stars include Mamie Gummer, Tammy Blanchard, Brian D’Arcy James and Hamish Linklater.

THE BORGIAS, a one-hour drama series based on the infamous Italian Renaissance family, stars Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons in his Golden Globe-nominated role as Rodrigo Borgia, the cunning, manipulative patriarch of the Borgia family who ascends to the highest circles of power within Renaissance-era Italy to become Pope Alexander VI. The series also stars François Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, Joanne Whalley, Lotte Verbeek, David Oakes and Colm Feore. The series is an Ireland/Canada/Hungary co-production.
