Michael Strahan and Scott Rechler Honored at June 24 Fundraiser

Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic Benefits Long Island Children's Museum and North Shore-LIJ's Brain Aneurysm Center at Cushing Neuroscience Institute

Celebrities from the world of sports, entertainment and the media will be hitting the links to benefit the Long Island Children’s Museum at the 2nd Annual Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, June 24. Hosted by Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado, Founder & President of Coastal Advisors LLC Insurance Consultants, the golf event at Oheka Castle will honor Michael Strahan, co-host ”Live with Kelly & Michael” and “Fox NFL Sunday and Scott Rechler, Chairman and CEO, RXR Realty.

“In my professional life, I focus my efforts on making sure that athletes, entertainers and corporate executives are protected; allowing them to excel at what they do best, without worries about their future,” explains Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado. “I approach my philanthropic efforts the same way—reaching out to make sure that the best organizations in our community are protected, by having the resources they need to help the most vulnerable in our community thrive.” His celebrity-laden client roster is following his lead through participation at the Golf Classic and the evening’s cocktail party/auction.

“Rich Salgado has been a good friend to the Children’s Museum for several years,” notes LICM President Suzanne LeBlanc. “He decided he wanted to expand his support of LICM this year, in recognition of our receipt of the National Medal for Museum and Library Service for our innovative and far-reaching community programs. By naming LICM as a Golf Classic beneficiary, he is ensuring that our efforts to improve the lives of children will flourish,” LeBlanc adds.

The 2nd Annual Big Daddy Golf Classic brings together the worlds of entertainment and business to support Long Island Children’s Museum, starting with its honorees, New York Giants legend and TV host Michael Strahan and real estate executive and LICM Board co-chair Scott Rechler. The pair are longtime friends of Salgado and share his philanthropic commitment.

Among the celebrities participating in the June 24 fundraiser are Justin Tuck, Jason Kidd, Deron Williams, MarShon Brooks, Ronnie Lott, Gary Sheffield, Matt Ryan and Robert Davi. (See http://bigdaddygolfclassic.com/celebrities.html for a complete list of participants.

An evening cocktail party and auction (6:30-10 p.m.) will cap off the fundraiser. “Cupcakes at the Castle” will include the elements visitors experience on a daily basis at the Children’s Museum - hands-on activities, fun and games, and live entertainment … only limited to adults for the night. 

Guests will also have the chance to bid on auction items – from travel packages to entertainment and sports experiences. Monies raised at the Golf Classic and evening cocktail party support the Museum’s exhibits, visitor programs and performances, as well as LICM’s extensive community access programs.
